Reading Servants by Lucy Lethbridge (2013), an essay on the evolution of house servants inspired me to give writing short stories based around households a shot! 

I've really enjoyed reading secondhand books lately, it tends to offer an older selection of books, and thus makes older gems standout.

So, here's a spooky piece made for Halloween 2022. +=

"Autumn 1891, Ms. Tabitha M. Gammel, a young woman living with her elderly mother is accused by those around her of  ‘secretly’ sneaking into her house’s attic at night for reasons unclear. It must be her, no one else could be causing such obvious signs of disrepair in the laundry, right? Her Sister, Prof. Allizabeth M. G. writes to inform her of an eviction notice, accusing Tabitha of property damage, theft, and taking advantage of their mother’s trust - insulted to hear that Tabitha refuses to confirm that it’s her wrongdoing. "

In preparation for visiting Sticky Institue's annual Melbourne convention Hallozeen, I prepped physical copies of this story-zine to swap with other cool artists for the first time, and it went super well! Thread-bound on thrifted neon paper. Photos are up on my Instagram <3
